Steven Alcala has come over from the States for the Le Mans Classic, and to take care of his "vested interest". Steve spent eight months doing a most impecable job on the restoration of Nº 9. It has been 20 years since Steve was here at Le Mans, when he was on a team that participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Sam Smart, right, approaches Steve.
With lunch over Gordon brings Nº 9 to the scrutineering tent. Next to Gordon is Tristan Bradfield who will co-drive this event with Keith Hampson in Keith's Alpine.
In the background Keith and Steven Alcala discuss the finer points of Sebring Alpine ownership. Steve has recently become the keeper of one of the six, 1962 Sebring Alpines.
Gordon and Steve watch anxiously as the Scrutineer goes about his work. This man has the life or death decision as to whether or not a car will be allowed to compete.
Nº 9 has passed scritineering! With a huge sigh of relief Ken Smith, Steve and I begin to become aware of and appreciate the local sights and sounds. A jazz band has been playing since we arrived.
