  • SUNBEAM WIPER CONTROL
    For negative ground cars.

    INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS


    1--Disconnect battery.
    2-- Loosen wiper switch and lower it so terminals can be identified.
    3-- Disconnect the brown/green wire from terminal #4 on the wiper switch. Insulate the lug and tie the wire back to the harness using a nylon cable tie. This wire is not used.
    4-- Connect the yellow wire with the female connector from the SWC to #4 on the wiper switch.
    5-- Disconnect the red/green wire from terminal #1 on the wiper switch .
    Connect the red wire with the female connector from the SWC to #1 on the wiper switch. Connect the red wire with the male connector from the SWC to the wire disconnected from #1 on the wiper switch.(red/green wire)
    6-- Using a dual connector connect the black wire from the SWC to terminal #6 on the wiper switch (terminal #6 already has a black wire, it must be left connected).
    7-- Reinstall the wiper switch. (Terminals 7 & 8 uppermost).
    8-- Route the long blue wire, with the female bullet connector, from the SWC along the existing cable to the wiper motor.
    9-- Disconnect the green wire attached to the wiper motor from the dual connector. (Leave the other two green wires connected).
    Connect the green wire on the motor to the blue wire installed in step 8.
    10 --Route the long green & blue wires with no connectors, from the SWC along the existing cable through the grommet on the drivers side and into the engine compartment.
    11-- Install a female crimp connector on the green wire and connect it to the fuse block at terminal #4 (with the other green wires )
    12--Install a female crimp connector on the blue wire and connect it to the fuse block at terminal #2 (the fused side, not the side with the brown wires).
    Mount the SWC to the steering column using nylon stay straps.
    13-- Reconnect battery.

    TESTING PROCEDURE

    1. Wet down the windshield.
    2. Be sure the wiper switch is in the off position.
    3. Turn the ignition switch on.
    4. Place the wiper switch to full speed, should work normally.
    5. With the wiper switch still on, turn off the ignition switch. Wipers should continue to run until they are in the parked position.
    6. With the wiper switch still on turn the ignition back on. Wipers should not operate.
    7. With the ignition still on, turn the wiper switch to the off position for a few seconds.
    8. Place the wiper switch to full speed .Wipers should now work normally.
    9. Place the wiper switch to the slow position. After a few seconds the wiper will operate in the intermittent mode. One to two cycles about every 5 seconds.
