Entry #4: Jeff Carter's Concept
I drew a tiger about 8 years ago (shown) that was based on the "what if Sunbeam/Rootes" survived scenario coupled with Alfa Romeo's approach to updating their beloved Spider. Visually, the body styling is what's apparent. Urethane integrated bumpers & lower body panels, gently raked headlights and taillights.
The front end is stretched in an effort to place the suspension far enough forward to eliminate the poor ackerman geometry. The thought here, based on a probable Rootes limitation to expenses surrounding tooling costs, amounted to stretching the sheetmetal at the cowl and relocating the suspension further forward on the frame horns and extending the horns.
Because I did this so long ago, the thought was to use the 5 liter and T5 rather than any current V8 and considering my approach (old tooling), I'm not sure another engine would work especially the modular Ford V8.
Not apparent in this drawing, I would love to see a windshield similar to the Lemans coupes. The original hardtop is very stylish and aside from the necessary changes to accomodate the windshield rake, I'd leave it the same.
Anyway, there's my 2 cents . . . . about as close to keeping the original flavor/feel and still complying to the Feds. Obviously, this assumes the strike never happened and Chrysler didn't enter the scene . . .
Cheers,
Jeff
