MANIFOLD REMOVAL:- (Applicable only when Cam Kit LAT 20 is NOT BEING USED.)
Manifold will, of course have been removed if a cam kit is being fitted. The inlet manifold can be removed with engine in position by un-bolting the rear engine mounting under the gearbox rear extension and lowering the rear end of the engine. This gives the extra clearance needed for removing the inlet manifold rear fixing bolts. It is, however, possible to achieve this without carrying out the above, lowering the rear portions of the engine merely makes the job easier.
- Drain the cooling system. Disconnect the automatic choke heat chamber air inlet at the air cleaner. Remove the air cleaner.
- Disconnect the accelerator cable at the carburetor. Remove the accelerator return spring..
- Remove the coil from the manifold..
- Disconnect the spark plug wires at the spark plugs by grasping the molded cap only. Remove wires. Remove wires from harness brackets on valve rocker arm covers. Remove distributor cap and spark plug harness..
- Remove carburetor fuel inlet line and automatic choke heat tubes, the latter are now not needed..
- Disconnect the distributor vacuum line. Remove the distibutor-hold down bolt and remove distributor and vacuum line..
- Disconnect radiator upper hose at the coolant outlet housing and the water temperature sending unit wire at the sending unit. Remove the heater hose from automatic choke housing and disconnect hose and disconnect hose at the intake manifold..
- Loosen clamp on water pump, by-pass hose at collant outlet housing and slide hose off outlet housing..
- Disconnect intake manifold and carburetor..
- Remove intake manifold and carburetor as an assembly. Remove intake manifold gaskets and seals..
- Remove therostat housing and thermostat plus temperature sending unit..
MANIFOLD INSTALLATION:
- Install temperature sending unit in manifold next to heater hose outlet pipe, install heater house outlet pipe elbow, thermostat followed by thermostat housing, using new gasket supplied, and secure.
